Caldecott 상과 Newbery 상을 받은 Kevin Henkes(글)와 그의 부인이자 저명한 Illustrator인 Laura Dronzek(그림)이 부부 공동으로 함께 만든 베스트셀러 그림책입니다. 부부는 힘을 합쳐서 4계절 시리즈를 만들었으며, 그중 겨울편인 "Winter is Here"는 국내에서 "겨울은 여기에!"라는 제목으로 번역서가 출간되기도 했습니다.
봄이 오기 전에 검은색 나무 줄기는 앙상하게 하늘을 향해 뻗어 있지요. 하지만 기다리고 기다리면 나무는 잎으로 덮이기 시작하고 화사한 꽃을 피웁니다.

결국 온 세상은 새싹과, 벌과, 장화와, 비눗방울과, 벌레와, 새와, 바람과, 아이들의 자전거로 왁자지껄 가득찹니다.
봄은 촘감을 느낄 수 있고, 냄새를 맡을 수 있고, 소리를 들을 수 있습니다.
이제 기다림은 끝났다고 생각하지만...이제는 여름을 기다립니다.

There's something almost magical about the changing of the seasons, and Henkes and Dronzek once again perfectly capture the quiet wonder of the natural world, as they did in Birds and Oh! Through second-person narration that features the refrain "but if you wait…," they detail the subtle and less subtle changes that occur as spring replaces winter - snow melts, trees and flowers blossom, birds hatch, and rain brings mud and puddles. Dronzek's vivacious acrylic illustrations, their bright colors emphasized by the thick black outlines, complement Henkes's spare but lyrical prose. VERDICT A must-have, joyful seasonal title for the youngest listeners that will make them impatient for all that spring brings.
