The singsongy rhyme may get to adults who are reading it aloud, but little ones will probably like the tale of the little bug who goes for a walk. "He met a cat and stopped to talk. / They fell in step and strolled a while, / and bumped into a crocodile." So it goes, with the bug meeting a pig who danced the jig, a toad heading down the road, and a host of others. The comical characters are silly and nicely executed in watercolors outlined in pen. This could also work as a first book for beginning readers.

She is also the author and illustrator of Tumble Bumble and the Poinsettia books. She lives in Austin, TX, and in a small village near Santa Fe, NM.
